I am a scientist trying to find my passion. There is just so much to do and see these days, and I'm having a heck of a time deciding what to focus on for work. Lately I've been having a lot of fun with web development.
Sorry to say there isn't very much to look at on this little website right now. I haven't found the time confidence to post all of my pet projects.
Lately I've been making cool things with meteor and you should too!
Seriously, this framework is already amazing and it has only been out for a month. I picked it up about a week after its release and spent two days making touring. Then I took over development of liveslides and it was used to give a presentation at linuxfest in Bellingam.
My background is in computational physics and mathematics. I worked 1.5 years in computational biology writing CUDA and generally exploring that field. Then I took off for a year long bicycle tour. I learned enough about rails and general web development practices to make that website in about a month. It helped a lot that I had the ear of a veteran web developer, but I was still very pleased with the progress I made.
After the bicycle tour I spent another 5 months working on my computer science skills and trying to gain a deeper understanding of javascript. I'm doing contract web development work right now as I continue to look for a place that will be a perfect fit.
